In the later days of Spring there were so many Orange Tip butterflies fluttering along the banks of a little stream near to my home and they gave me inspration to try and recreate them.
it is only the males that have the orange tips to their wings, the females being a little less showy.
This pretty butterfly has been constructed using stiffened cloth and then painted and ts body made from needlefeltd wool. It rests onop of a vintage wooden cotton reel, which has old green velvet attached to mimic a mossy bank.
The measurements for this are 3.5cms across the wingspan and 4cms high.
