A Textile Common Blue Butterfly Resting on a Cotton Reel
In the later days of Spring there were clouds of Common Blue butterflies rising from the long grass in the fields near my home.
This pretty butterfly has been constructed using stiffened cloth and then painted. The body of the butterfly is made from needlefelted wool. It rests on top of a vintage wooden cotton reel, with a piece of old green velvet to mimic a mossy bank.
The measurements are 3.5cms across and 4.3cms high.
