Iris

Yellow iris used to grow next to a stream that trickled its way through a large field at the back of my grandparents garden. Cows used to stand and puddle up the mud as they drank, I never ventured into the field when the cows were slaking their thirst.

A little cardboard jewellers box has been used to make this item, it was hinged with paper but was too fragile and broke whilst I was covering the box with vintage paper so I've used a piece of calico as a substitute.

A mix of old and new textiles have been used to make this item along with threads and a touch of watercolour paint. There's also a vintage mother of pearl button and a 1963 stamp.

I made this in my home studio to my own design.
